Just as you take your car to the mechanic for a tune-up, you need someone who provides preventive care to help take care of you. It’s important to see a physician yearly for wellness exams even if you feel fine to maintain your overall health.
A primary care provider (PCP) is your point person for a health tune-up. These doctors or nurse practitioners help take care of your basic health care and focus on your overall health, making sure you get recommended screenings and risk assessments, and to help point you in the right direction if you need to see other medical specialists.
Your costs will include a copay and possibly the coinsurance and/or deductible amounts. It’s always best to make an appointment to keep your wait time short.
Conditions generally treated are:
- General health issues
- Preventive care
- Routine checkups
- Immunizations and screenings
