Educational Assistance Program

You are encouraged to pursue personal development and professional growth by participating in educational courses. You may receive reimbursement up to $1,000 per semester for approved courses.

Educational assistance is available to all regular, full-time (30 plus hours a week) employees who:

  • completed at least one (1) year of continuous service,
  • have performance rating of competent or above,
  • have obtained approval from direct supervisor before registering for course, and
  • taking courses directly related to his/her position, are part of a degree program, or directly benefits advancement of your career.

Part-time and temporary employees are not eligible for educational assistance.

This benefit helps employees pay for college tuition and related expenses (textbooks, computer fees etc.) Parking fees are not reimbursable. Employees pay expenses up front and upon successful completion of the course will be reimbursed for a percentage of eligible expenses based on his/her grades, as follows:

  • Grade A – 100%
  • Grade B – 100%
  • Grade C – 85%

A grade of “C” or better is required for any reimbursement. If a course is taken on a “Pass/Fail” basis (certification course), the reimbursement for passing will the same as if an “A” grade is made (100%).

Each calendar year an eligible employee may be reimbursed up to a maximum of $1,000 per semester. The date the employee is reimbursed by the Accounting Department will determine the semester in which the reimbursement counts. Registrar’s and other receipts for books and computer fees are required as proof of payment.
