Dependent Care FSA

A dependent care FSA helps you pay for eligible child or adult day care expenses. These include day care, before- and after-school programs, nursery school or preschool, summer day camp and adult day care. These expenses are so that you and, if married, your spouse can work, look for work or attend school full-time. The care must be for your child under age 13, or for a spouse or dependent who isn’t able to take care of him or herself and who lives with you at least half of the year.

Who Is EligibleBenefit eligible employees are eligible to participate in the plan during their enrollment period. However, if you experience a life changing event such as the birth or adoption of a child, a divorce, or other qualifying event as outlined in the CHANGE MY BENEFITS section, you may adjust or enroll in the Dependent Care FSA plan. If you are married, you and your spouse must be working, looking for work, be a full-time student or incapable of self-care.
How It WorksA Dependent Care Flexible spending account (FSA) allows you to set aside pre-taxed money for eligible child or adult day care. Determine how much money you want to contribute in your Dependent Care FSA for the year. The amount you designate will be taken out of your paycheck in equal installments each pay period and placed in your account The maximum you can set aside is $5,000.
What To ConsiderFunds can be set aside for dependent children up to age 13, for a spouse or adult dependent that is incapable of taking care of themselves. Eligible child and adult care expenses are day care, before and after school care, preschool and nursery school and summer day camp.

It's important to give some thought to calculating how much money to contribute for the year, because if you put in more money than you need, by law, you lose it.
When Do I Submit Forms For ReimbursementConnect to the naviabenefits.com website to submit your request for reimbursement. Requests can by submitted throughout the year and you have until March 15 to submit claims for eligible expenses incurred during the previous calendar year. Any money left in your account after that date will be forfeited.
